Are Adult Models Exploited?
I hear this a lot. more than I care to hear it. I hear it from the news, politicains, activists, and the uneducated. Its really a shame when it comes from the latter, though. So I thought I’d take a little time to educate you good folks on how the adult industry works.
Lets imagine we’ve got a photographer looking for models to perform hardcore content. so he places an ad in the paper or contacts one of the many agencies that exist for this purpose. He finds a model and he ’shoots the pitch’ to her.
Normally most photographers have a flat fee rate for a one time shoot. This figure is quite often, for hardcore, more than most americans make in a week. She’s going to make it in a few hours work. Depending on how good she looks, he’ll up the price. Depending on what she’s willing to do on camera, he’ll up the price. Depending on the niche she’s fullfilling or the difficulty in finding that kind of talent (black, fat, midget, blonde, brunette, big breasts) he’ll up that price.
So a naturally breasted indian girl whose willing to do anal could take home your months salary in a day. But I guess that’s exploitation.
Then, when that actress really starts making a name for herself she can start getting even better deals. Lets take one of our favorites Raven Riley. She was offered a good deal to start a site created around her name and likeness, that starred her. In exchange for helping run the site she got a pretty good deal.
How good of a deal? Right out of jayman’s mouth on ICQ not 30 seconds ago I got this:

So, folks like Raven or Kate or other well known stars who have sites like this often take home a percentage of the income. How much is that? You really, really dont want to know, especially if you work hard every day for your money.
But I guess those girls are being exploited, right? If Raven plays her cards right she’ll be a millionare one day, but I guess that’s explotation at its finest.
But who is getting exploited here? It isnt the girls, my friend. They’re well paid and well taken care of.
I know there are true horror stories out there, I know that there are photographers who take advantage of girls. But these folks, they’re not me, they’re not jayman. Its a lot less common than you think and when it DOES happen those people lose a lot of business.
Shit if one of you girls are interested in that kind of deal and you’re intersted on seeing how the industry really works, why dont you pop on over to Midwest Modeling(that’s raven rileys agency, btw) or one of countless other agencies that do that sort of thing, and when you do I want you to promise you’ll write me to tell me how you spent your ‘expoltation’ money. I’m gonna guess most of you are getting new cars 
But I guess that if a girl goes and applies for a job downtown as a secretary to earn 8.00 an hour fetching coffee and being the front man for a business owner who takes home 500k a year, that’s not explotation. I guess if she goes and programs things and takes home 40k for a 2billion a year company that she’s not being exploited. I guess If she waitresses for 4.25 + tips and her manager is taking home 80k then she’s ’safe’. You fucking people with your bullshit double standards. If you want to be angry about something, be angry at the corporations. Not the adult industry that pays their women higher % of profits than any other industry in the world.

Well ‘duh’.
Of course these people are able to live with money, they are the haves in the world, try being a have not and getting rich, its much tougher to live your life. Even theoretically not everyone in the world could be rich unless the technological means was there to make human jobs obsolete, who would be the doctors and scientists that made the internet (and your porn open to the world now businesses) even possible, who would do the boob jobs and plastic surgery, scrub your toilets or construction, etc?
Of course beautful people with no hangups get to live like kings and queens, thats the way its always been. You’d have to be an idiot not to see how easy people who are born beautiful have it in this world.

Uhhh come on, beautiful women can easily sleep their way to higher pay in the adult industry. “Be my bitch and you’ll get this % of the profits”, it’s not like adult industry businesses have a rough time with the supply of beautiful girls (and not so beautiful girls) willing to do anything for money. This is why the rich have their pick of the litter, and the same reason many in the adult industry do also. This also happens in other industries besides just the adult industry as well, you look good, or are willing to ’service’ the higher ups, you get paid more.
It has nothing to do with the corporations and everything to do with capitalism, a for profit system will always breed exploitation and social classes. Just wait until the educated have their wages pushed down so low that they will bloody revolt, capitalism wont last, I gaurantee it, technology will keep displacing people and their work. People will be fed up with how fast markets change that it will make going to school for 4 years and incurring insane debt seem like an idiotic thing to do by comparison.
